“This place IS paradise” Vermaakjeanne’s photos around Krabi, Thailand

A TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Krabi, Thailand by TravelPod blogger Vermaakjeanne titled “This place IS paradise…” Vermaakjeanne’s travel blog entry: “6 April – Thursday Landing at 9 am in Bangkok. Very surprised to look out of the window and see a golf course right beside the runway. Managed to find my mom (who’d been waiting for me at the wrong terminal) and waited around the airport for a while waiting for the next flight to Krabi. While waiting I managed to find myself a very scissor happy hairdresser to give me a haircut. Though scissor happy, the outcome not too bad. While waiting we also noticed the number of European (English most likely) men that were walking around with Thai women and girls. Currently reading a book called “Sex Slaves” which goes into detail about sex trading in Asia, and one comes to understand the poverty in certain areas and how these girls in some way hardly have much choice, and a marriage to a man that can look after you in financial terms is considered to be a very lucky opportunity. Anyways, another thing that struck me upon walking out of the Bangkok International Airport over to the Domestic Airport was the unbelievable heat and humidity!! It hits you like a ton of bricks. 38 Degrees in South Africa is nothing in comparison to 34 degrees in Bangkok. I have never experienced anything like it in my entire life… Caught our flight to Krabi, and taxi to Ao Nang, and to our resort, Ao Nang Paradise Resort without …

“Japan – A whirlwind visit” G60thomp’s photos around Narita, Japan

A TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Narita, Japan by TravelPod blogger G60thomp titled “Japan – A whirlwind visit” G60thomp’s travel blog entry: “We had the kind of misfortune, that turns into good fortune. We had not expected a holiday in Japan. However, we arrived in Narita with a 12-hour layover and felt like an adventure. So we obtained a short-stay Visa and went out into the real world. Our first view was of Mount Fuji from the air – as perfect as the poets proclaimed (Picture #1). The farmers fields were amazingly orderly (2), and they had many beautiful golf courses (3, for example). We were surprised at how green Japan is – not as built up as we expected. Once on the ground, we decided to head up an old road to see the famous Shinshoji Temple, favoured by Sumo wrestlers and Kabuki theatre stars! Along the path, were many colourful shops just opening for the day – most offered bilingual signs – including English to our relief (4). Everyone that we spoke with was extremely helpful and cheerful, whether or not they spoke English. The Temple complex dates back over 1000 years, with different parts reflecting different architectural styles throughout the ages. The Gate is the most recent (5). A famous lantern sits at the second gate and is several hundred years old! (6). We were able to see several beautiful pagodas (7 & 8). People were actively worshipping in the newest part of the Temple while we were there (9). We were interviewed by Japanese …

“Lazy day coz it’s Sunday” Vickersontour’s photos around Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

A TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam by TravelPod blogger Vickersontour titled "Lazy day coz it’s Sunday!" Vickersontour’s travel blog entry: "Today we just couldn’t be bothered…again!! We were going to go to the water park…..but couldn’t be bothered to get our fat backsides out of bed….so we had a lie in! When we did finally surface, we headed over to the park to have some lunch and then went over to the Independance (Reunification) Palace. This was quite interesting as this Palace is still used today but still has the decor from the 1970′s! You are allowed to go in nearly all the rooms. There was the Banquet Suite which Lorna found very exciting, but was then disappointed to see no food out on the tables! We went in the Cabinet Board Room which was full of……cabinets and boards actually!! The next stop was the Conference Hall which was basically a press room. After this we headed to the Map room….bet you can’t guess what was in here?!? Thing was, it was just maps of Cambodia – you would have thought they knew where they lived!! After a visit into the Presidents Office, we went to the Vice Presidents and the International Reception Rooms. The final room we went to before we headed into the Palace Bunker was the Credentials Presenting Room! Now I’m not sure, but does this mean that people had to present their credentials ýhen entering this room!! Is it "Welcome Sir, drop your trousers mate!!" When we were told we were …

“Harbour and fish and chips” Eleanorcostello’s photos around Dún Laoghaire, Ireland

A TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Dún Laoghaire, Ireland by TravelPod blogger Eleanorcostello titled “Harbour and fish and chips” Eleanorcostello’s travel blog entry: “Since we were up late last night, no run this morning in favor of more sleep. Everyone is exhausted in class. For the first two class periods (we have three each day), we have a guest speaker. He is a professor at UCD and certainly sounds very Irish…which is not a good thing when quickly babbling about Comparative Constitutional Law and international case law. He sounds like he’s mumbling despite efforts to understand what he’s saying. We all go back to recharge during our lunch break. I tell everyone that Dun Laoghaire (pronounced Dunleary) might be a good idea to visit this afternoon. Transnational Investment Law with our leprechan professor and then we go back to break for a bit before leaving for the DART about an hour later. The walk to the DART from UCD is about a mile and a half (absolutely heinous route I took with the golf bag moving in). It’s a sunny day, about 65 degrees, so the walk is much more enjoyable this time. We buy our tickets to Dun Laoghaire, cross the tracks, and wait for the train. Dun Laoghaire is only about 4 stops down from the Sydney Parade stop where we boarded. Gorgeous views of Dublin’s Bay pass by on our left side, and it’s low tide. Seagulls, people running and walking their dogs, and waves rolling in. We arrive at the Dun Laoghaire stop and we’re right …
